Golden Ponds is a park near Longmont, Colorado. The pond closest to the parking area was devastated by the September floods. The structure that contained the water and allowed folks to walk around the pond was annihilated. That left very little water in the first pond. The second pond seems fine. These days there have been Bald Eagles (Haliaeetus leucocephalus) hanging around the ponds. Since I was heading over to Longmont the other morning, I brought along my camera. On the way, I spotted an immature bald eagle in one the reservoirs on the way. When I got to Golden Ponds, I found 2 adults and one juvenile bald eagle. Although the sky was overcast, I decided to shoot anyway. The second pond at Golden Ponds. It was not affected much by the flood. The peaks in the upper left (in the back) are in the sun. The peaks in the middle are Mt. Meeker and Longs Peak. The trees are mostly cottonwoods.
