Yesterday we hiked in the Brainard Lake Area of Indian Peak Wilderness. We planned on hiking to Niwot Mountain, but as soon as we got above tree line, the wind so strong, we changed our plans and return back into the trees. We hiked around Long Lake and then up to Lake Isabelle. Although still windy, we were mostly in the trees so it was not a problem. When we got back to the east end of Long Lake (not terribly far from where we parked) we found 2 moose (Alces alces.) Shortly after spotting them one settled into a boggy area. The second one (see last image) settle in among the trees on the right side of the first image. It has become obvious that moose are getting more and more common in our area.
